Atkinson & Co was established in 1987 when chartered accountant, Neil Atkinson, took his first business risk - deciding he could create a successful accountancy practice on his own, with the support of one client. Throughout this time, the business has evolved with Neil acquiring more than just accountancy experience along the way. The client bank has grown through practice acquisition in the early days, but mainly by referrals, and the company can now boast 10 members of staff.

The Atkinson & Co accountancy practice is committed to a high level of service at all times. All of the accountants, accountancy and administration staff take pride in their youthful vigour and follow the policy of providing a personal service to all clients, maintaining regular contact and generally being proactive with regard to clients accountancy needs.

The client base is mainly owner managed business and consists of all types of manufacturing and service industries throughout Scotland and the UK. Information Technology and improved travel facilities allows the company to easily service clients further afield, whilst maintaining the added advantage of cheaper overheads from the location of the accountancy practice being outwith the city.

All of the staff at Atkinson & Co pride themselves in their ability to relate to clients in a language that they understand, rather than using technical accountancy jargon as often adopted by other professional chartered accountants.

Neil Atkinson - Chartered Accountant

Neil qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982 having trained with an international firm of CA's. After a period of time in industry, he returned to practice and founded Atkinson & Co in November 1987. Neil has experienced the full joys of running a professional accountancy practice and can relate to both the good and bad experiences in business on a personal level. Neil considers his role within the firm to be the provision of sound business advice and the formatting of policies for individual clients, in order to minimise their tax burdens.
